Little Billies Reward Charts have been endorsed!

As you know we stock a range of exclusive reward charts from Little Billies.  Now we offer greater assurance of how these charts will help to tame your toddler in a positive way.  Recently the Little Billies range received endorsement from Eleanor who is the owner of Parent with Potential.  She holds a Bachelor of Applied Social Science Degree majoring in Counselling and works as a Child Behaviour Specialist.

Eleanor is the mother of three boys and has a special interest in how personality affects behaviour which led to her developing The Preschooler Personality in 2004. Eleanor has been supporting families with children for over 7 years. Her previous professional and work experience has involved facilitating and co-ordinating resources for families, including a support group for new mothers, a support group for mothers experiencing postnatal depression and co-facilitating a self esteem and behavioural program for primary children.

Below is the letter of endorsement from Parent with Potential:

As the owner of Parent with Potential Pty Ltd, I’d like to offer my endorsement of Little Billies, Positive Parenting Tools developed by Sarah Dawson. Sarah Dawson, the owner of Little Billies shows great initiative and resourcefulness in the design and thought of her products, aimed at helping parents and especially children through routine charts and reward charts amongst other parenting tools.

As a child behaviour specialist, I am particularly impressed with Little Billies reward charts and routine charts. What sets Little Billies apart from other reward charts is the clear pictures and descriptions that can be used by a large age group. The reward charts in particular are specific and clear about what the child is being rewarded for which is lacking in many ‘traditional’ star chart or reward chart formats. This leads to specific behaviours that can be targeted and worked on over a period of time until a child has mastered certain tasks or behaviours.

Sarah has a real skill in being able to identify need and develop tools that are easily applied and reinforced, by even a young child who would be drawn to the bright pictures and magnetic features.

I am also aware that Sarah consults with other professionals from time to time to provide input. This is very reassuring that the tools that Little Billies offers are not just developed by a mother but in consultation with a range of qualified practitioners dealing with children and parents in the fields of psychology, teaching and counselling.
If this doesn't convince you about what a great parenting tool our ROCKIN rewards charts are i can speak from experience.  I recently toilet trained my toddler and she was quick to jump off the toilet and run to the fridge to get her magnet for her 'Rock Star' reward chart, and is now one happy little toilet trained girl.

A day out at an Adelaide icon....

So the question was where to go in Adelaide on a public holiday with kids?
The same place everyone went...... The Big Rocking Horse!
Just in case you don't know what i am talking about this is the Big Rocking Horse.
An Adelaide Icon!
Located 30 minutes out of Adelaide in the town of Gumeracha.  Of course if you're not scared of heights you can climb to the top of the horses head.  Given that i am 26 weeks pregnant i opted to stay on the ground while hubby took our little rock chick up the horse.
We went with my sister, brother in law and two little rock chick nieces and had a great day.  The kids loved climbing the rocking horse, they loved feeding the animals as well but the highlight was the pony ride.
This was Violets first pony ride and although she is three she is quite small so they helmet kept falling off and she was slipping all over the place as her feet couldn't reach the stirps.  In saying that i don't think i have ever heard her laugh so much.
It was the highlight of my already great day.

GRUG live!

So who else remembers Grug books from their childhood?
Today i took my daughter whom is three to see Grug live.  We went with three other mums and three kids all about the same age.  We sat on the floor right up the front and much to my surprise it was really good.  The kids really enjoyed it.  They laughed and danced which was great to see and i even got a laugh.

In case you don't remember the story of Grug here is how it all started. Grug began his life as the top of a Burrawong tree that fell to the ground. Resembling a small, striped haystack with feet and a nose, Grug is fascinated by the world around him and solves everyday problems creatively and without fuss.
These books were written by Ted Prior and now we have added one to our book collection.  The show only goes for about 35 minutes which is long enough for little kids and i highly recommend you go and check it out.

Sweet Blue Photography is awesome!

So last Friday A Little Bit of Cheek had its first real photo shoot (as a professional photographer took the photos not me).  Natalie from Sweet Blue Photography was brilliant.  All i had to do was decide what the kids would wear and she did the rest.  While i stood there and watched i was unsure what these photos were going to look like.  I guess unless you're looking at it though the lens you really have no idea.
You can imagine how ecstatic i am with then end results.  There are so many great photos i can't decide which one is my favourite.
I am currently working on a new home page for A Little Bit of Cheek which i am super excited about.  I've also added a photo of me and my cheeky little girl on our 'about us' page and some of the images will be used throughout the site as well.
This photo shoot is the first of many for A Little Bit of Cheek.  My daughter and neice had a blast along with all the other kids!
Nothing beats a great photo to really show you what you are about to buy.
So if you live in Adelaide and need photos taken for your wedding, family photos or anything really i can't recommend Natalie from Sweet Blue Photography enough.

Thanks heaps Natalie xxx

What was i doing three years ago today???

Three years ago today was the most life changing day of my life.  I became a mother!  My beautiful little girl was born at 11.54pm.  I can't believe three years have past already.  Perhaps because the first year was a bit of a blur due to a lack of sleep.
Nothing beats watching your child grow and their personalities emerging.  I know i am bias however Violet is the cheekiest little girl who is so loving and caring.  Every day she comes up with something new to make me laugh, whether it is a silly dance or changing the words to some song.
She has filled my life in a way i never anticipated.
Happy Birthday my beautiful big girl.  I love you more than anything in this world xxx

Rock Star Jewellery

I am always on the search for clothing and accessories that ROCK and once again i have found something that i think kids of all ages are going to love.  There are two designs available, the 'Rock Star' guitar pick necklace that actually has a fender pick attached and the 'Rock Star' washer necklace that comes in 5 colours; black, blue, lime green, purple and pink.
They also come in three lengths; 12.5 inches, 14 inches and 16 inches to cater for all ages.
Once again these necklaces are exclusively available at A Little Bit of Cheek because not only do we love everything that ROCKS we also love items that are not widely available.

These necklaces would make a great gift if you know of a 'Rock Star' in the making and would perhaps be a great alternative to the chocolate Easter egg this year.

What do you think?

20 weeks and counting!

So i am now 20 weeks pregnant. We had our 19 week scan and bubs is doing great. Once again we decided to have another surprise. At the end of the day it doesn’t matter if we have a boy or a girl. There is positives for both. We already have a daughter and we have kept all her baby stuff so we wouldn’t need to buy as much new stuff. On the down side it's not fair to give this baby all hand me downs. If it's a boy... great we would have one of each, but all those things we have been keeping will be straight off to the Good Will store as there is way too much pink!

This baby is super active! I don't really remember my daughter moving around so much and i certainly don’t remember it hurting when she got it an uncomfortable position. But this bubs likes to remind me she/he is around.

20 weeks in and heartburn has kicked in. Not just the occasional bout of heartburn i mean 24 hours a day 7 days a week. So looks like i am back to swigging a bottle of Mylanta! As for the varicose veins, my legs look more black than any other colour. Once our baby is born it will be off for another round of painful injections to get the veins to disappear.

Don't get me wrong i am so excited to be having another baby. I guess i had blocked out all the things that happen along the way. And i will never understand the saying 'your glowing' when you’re pregnant because i can assure you i am anything but!

A must have accessory for little girls this winter.

I am loving our newest arrival at A Little Bit of Cheek, just in time for the changing of the seasons.  Today was the first day of Autumn and i don't know about you but there was defiantly a cool change today.  Being pregnant i am welcoming this change with open arms.

The best part is all the warmer clothes are arriving in store and these thigh high socks are gorgeous.  Many parents struggle at nappy changes because their daughter has a pair of tights or leggings on that need to be fully removed to be able to change a nappy.

Tights and leggings are even worse on a toilet training little girl.... too tight for them to be able to navigate on and off themselves.

Well Pork Chops Thigh High Socks have solved all these problems.

Pork Chop Thigh Highs will ease the strain on the nappy change and still keeps their feet warm and little girls can go to the toilet with ease.  As well as providing warmth, padding for all the crawlers, no more missing socks and they are non-skid and runway-ready fashion!

They are available in a great range of colours and fun patterns so you would be able to mix and match them with any outfit.  At A Little Bit of Cheek stocks the following colours/patterns: Black Sparkle, Silver Sparkle, White with Red Dots, Red with white Hearts (my personal favourite), Navy and White Stripe, Charcoal with Pink Dots, Pink with White Dots, Red Rib and Pink Rib.
They come is sizes 6-12 months, 1-2 years, 2-4 years, 4-6 years and 6-8 years, individually packaged and available for $21.50.

Oh Baby London has added a few new rockin styles for your little rocker.

And for your messy little eater there are also new bibs in store that are sure to make a statement.

So if your bub is the next generation rockers, then A Little Bit of Cheek is the place to shop!

I am wishing winter away!

This week saw the arrival of the first shipment of the Tommy Rocket and Two Belles winter range.  Now i just need winter to arrive so i can dress my little rock chick in this fabulous range.

As you would expect these designs are fabulous.  The quality to the Tommy Rocket and Two Belles range is second to none.  My only problem is the pictures don't show the intricate detail that has been put into these clothes.

As you would expect i love so many items i just don't know where to start.  While going through the Tommy Rocket clothing i told hubby this baby better be a boy because otherwise our little girl will be dressed like a boy this winter LOL!

There are heaps of different jean designs in both ranges to suit all personalities and with adjustable waist bands as well.

Hoodys galore in both the girls and boys ranges to keep your kids snugly this winter.  I just can't decide which one is my favourite.

Tees in so many different designs, some with hoods, bold stripes, bright colours and large prints the options are endless.

Don't just take my word for it, have a look for yourself.

Be quick because this range is ROCKIN so it won't last long.

My first pregnancy purchase

So i have just past 14 weeks and am starting to feel better.  The morning sickness has passed, and i am not as tired, however my belly is expanding!  Hubby says it looks like i like drinking beer. Of course the expanding belly is a good thing.  It means are bubs is growing and developing which is great.

When i was pregnant the first time around i was so excited i wanted the world to know i jumped into maternity clothes as soon as i could.  This time around i want to stay in my 'non pregnancy' clothes for as long as possible, especially my jeans.  So i decided this time to invest in a 'Tummy Tie'.  For those that have not seen these they are made of durable, high quality elastic material and come in a pack of three.  They are easily attached to your jeans/shorts/pants/skirts etc and no one even has to know your wearing them.

I ordered mine just after Christmas (it may also have been an excess food belly) and have been wearing it ever since.  I am hoping to avoid maternity clothes for as long as possible and this little product is going to help me do it.  So if your waistline is expanding but your not ready to put away your favourite jeans i suggest you get over to Tummy Tie and see for yourself what a great product this is.

Makes it a perfect fit!

Big sister Violet sways between wanting a brother or a sister but she will have to wait until bubs arrives as we are going to have a surprise.
